Bird Watching Cruises
Bird watching is a growing hobby and most twitchers have a list of birds they want to tick off from their spotting list. A cruise or expedition voyage is the perfect way to spot sea birds, as well as penguins in Antarctica, albatross, boobies, eagles, loons and more. Usually the expeditions are escorted by qualified ornithologists, to help you spot birds and name the breeds. See our list of Bird Watching Cruises
Golf Themed Cruises
A Golf themed cruise can be great fun for golfers and their partners – even if the partner does not play! Crystal Cruises have a PGA Golf Pro sailing on select voyages and golf celebrities discuss the PGA Tour onboard in enlightening lectures. Optional shore excursions take you to world-famous courses.
Other cruise partners that feature golf include Silversea, Star Clippers, SeaDream and Azamara Club Cruises. We can also arrange private tours to golf courses for you, creating your very own golf cruise. For the Golf Widow – the ships all have excellent facilities onboard – why not indulge in a Spa Day?
Food and Wine Theme Cruises
Many of the luxury cruise lines and our cruise partners will offer Food and Wine theme cruises. Often a guest/celebrity chef will be onboard to give cooking demonstrations, talks and may even cook in the speciality restaurants. There are usually plenty of opportunities to meet the chef and have Q&A sessions too. For example, Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, founder of the infamous NOBU restaurants, will be sailing with Crystal Cruises, where he has the only sea-going NOBU restaurant onboard.
Oceania Cruises are well known for their culinary expertise, and so a Food and Wine Theme cruise seems a natural partnership. Jacques Pepin, who has a speciality restaurant onboard, will be sailing on the ships, and they also operate a number of cruises featuring the Bon Appetite Wine and Food festival.
Silversea Cruises have a well-established partnership with Relais and Chateux, and offer a cooking school onboard their ships. The Relais & Châteaux L'École des Chefs cooking school at sea provides guests with a special culinary curriculum, including hands-on instruction, and entertaining events hosted by Silversea culinary trainer David Bilsland, a former instructor at the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu culinary school in London. Guest can also go shopping with the Chefs when they go to local markets to source fresh local ingredients.
Silversea have introduced a new Slow Food concept and on two departures guest can indulge in a pre or post cruise Slow Food In Tuscany tour. See the upcoming Silversea Food & Wine Theme Cruises
Art and Craft Theme Cruises
Crystal Cruises Masterpiece Art Program allows you to create your own art, unique to your individual experience and personal style. The most comprehensive art program at sea, Crystal’s Masterpiece combines worldly destinations, regional style and personal flair with an engaging course of progressive study in painting, sculpture or crafts.
Art programs offered are complimentary on every Crystal cruise with courses incorporating the unique attributes and art history of the destination. With an emphasis on quality, only the finest supplies are used including Daler-Rowney paints, professional grade paper, Princeton and Loew-Cornell paint brushes, Sanford drawing pens, and Model Magic Clay.
Oceania Cruises features the Artists Loft on Riviera and Marina, and on Insignia on World Cruises. The artists-in-residence will provide instruction and guidance, allowing you to paint with oils or watercolours, sketch or create collages. The courses change continually and are designed with every level in mind, so everyone from beginners to seasoned professionals will find the classes engaging and enriching.
Mind Body and Spirit Theme Cruises
Crystal Cruises feature a number of sailings featuring guest instructors and speakers that focus on yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi and general fitness on board and ashore.
Azamara Club Cruises have cruises that feature Jazz –taking in the renowned Molde International Jazz Festival in Norway. Crystal Cruises offer a Big Band Themed Cruise on their transatlantic crossings with live daily Big Band performances from the Glenn Miller Orchestra as well as guest music lectures. Additional Ambassador Hosts serve as dance partners on an Atlantic Ocean crossing.
