AmaDara is the latest addition to the Ama Waterways fleet, and a rather gorgeous affair, with sleek lines and equally sleek, spacious cabins and suites, all with private balconies.
A trip down the Mekong is pleasure enough, but AmaDara adds some all of its own to the experience, with a pool, a swish spa, two restaurants serving authentic Vietnamese and Cambodian dishes, the sophisticated Saigon Lounge for pre-dinner cocktails. In addition every space has been designed to make the most of the ever-changing view along this river so lined with life, so there’s always something to entrance or entertain.
There’s a fair bit of entertainment onboard too, from folklore dances, musical performances, a piano player, cultural lectures and discussions and themed dinners. The in-depth excursions ashore are carefully planned, some to significant heritage sites and cities, including a trip on a junk in Halong Bay; others designed to experience local life, such as tri-shaw rides through smaller villages and visits to bustling markets.
