Cruise Itinerary - Marseilles to Lyon

Day 1. Arrive Arles, Embark Ship

Fly from your chosen UK airport to Marseilles. Transfer to Arles to board your luxury ship. Enjoy the Captain’s Gala Welcome Dinner.

Day 2. Arles

Set in the heart of the Alpilles regional country park, Les Baux-de-Provence is a World Heritage-listed site that is often referred to as one of the most beautiful villages in France. Perhaps tour its castle ruins, followed by free time to explore at leisure. Later, visit a working olive mill and farm in beautiful Saint Rémy de Provence. Here, discover the age-old Provençal tradition of olive growing during a tour and a tasting. Alternatively, embark on a tour taking you to the ancient Roman relics of Arles. Both groups will then have the afternoon to further explore Arles.

Day 3. Avignon

Arrive in Avignon, once an important centre of the Catholic Church, where a local guide will take you on a discovery of the city. Pay a visit to the Palace of the Popes, the world’s largest Gothic palace which served as a fortress, a church and a residence to the Popes that once governed the Christian world. In the afternoon, travel to the Pont du Gard, a Roman aqueduct that stands some 50 metres above the Gardon River.

Day 4. Viviers, Grignan

Visit a truffle farm for an insight into this unique industry. Head out with the dogs in search of truffles then enjoy a tasting of these rare delicacies. Later, journey to the village of Grignan, a hillside village surrounded by lavender fields and enveloped by high fortifications. Embark on a tour of Grignan Castle, enjoy a Cocktail Reception and tastings of regional produce.

Day 5. Tournon, Vienne

Arrive in Tournon and choose to experience the natural beauty of the Ardèche Mountains on a rail journey aboard the historic Ardèche Steam Train. Or, visit Eden Park garden and be captivated by panoramic views of Tournon with the river stretching out below. Later, cruise to Vienne for time at leisure this evening. Re-board your ship and cruise to Vienne. After dinner on board, you may wish to step out for a lovely evening stroll through the ancient streets.

Day 6. Belleville, Beaujolais Region

Explore the Beaujolais region on your chosen activity today. Perhaps explore the picturesque natural area known as The Dombes, home to more than one thousand ponds. You’ll visit a farm to taste local delights, then stop in the town of Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne where you may wish to sample the local specialty - frog legs. Or perhaps visit the hilltop village of Oingt, then head to a family-owned winery for a tour and tasting. This evening, indulge in a decadent gourmet feast at L’Abbaye de Collonges, a restaurant owned by the famous Michelin-starred chef, Paul Bocuse. Delight in exquisite dishes prepared using fine local produce.

Day 7. Lyon

Experience the gastronomic centre of France, Lyon, on your chosen sightseeing activity today. You may wish to take a guided city tour, then learn all about Lyon’s luxurious silk trade with a visit to a local silk workshop, located in the heart of the charming Croix-Rousse quarter. Another option is a guided culinary walk, taking in one of Lyon’s incredible fresh food markets and stopping by local artisan producers.

Day 8. Depart Lyon

Today your incredible Rhône Treasures cruise draws to a conclusion. After breakfast, be transferred to the airport for your onward flight to the UK.
