The Unique Crystal Cruises Logo
When the founders of Crystal Cruises sought for an appropriate visual representation for their newly created cruise line, they called upon the internationally acclaimed Walter Landor Associates design firm of San Francisco, to create an original and definitive logo.
Awarded with the challenge of establishing a unique emblem for the company, the talented designers came up with several concepts to depict the crucial elements of the cruise line’s original statement and mission goal; which was "to offer it’s seagoing clientele the world’s most luxurious cruise vacation ever".
The key words were luxury and elegance. The essential feeling was to create a logo which emplified beauty and to combine this with the elements of the sea, which were to be equally as important. In 1988 a logo was finall chosen, of which has since become one of the cruise industry’s most unique and striking logos. The clean and simple design included two symmetrical facing seahorses, those mythical, legendary and stately servants of sea gods Neptune and Poseidon.
Adding the royal touch of a five-pointed crown suggested Crystal’s rise to regal status in the cruise industry, one which the line achieved almost instantly after the launch of the Crystal Harmony in 1990. Since then, the award-winning luxury cruise operator have gone from strength to strength and are without a doubt, one of the most recognised luxury cruise operators in the world.
