The Luxury Cruise Company nominated for awards
Brighton firm nominated for two prestigious cruise awards
A Brighton-based luxury cruise specialist has been nominated for two prestigious industry awards.
The Luxury Cruise Company is up for two Cruise International Awards 2012 - the Oscars of the cruising industry - to be held at the Soho Hotel in London on 12 September.
The expert firm will be hoping to go one better than last year in the 'Best Cruise Agent' category, after finishing runner-up in 2011.
Furthermore, The Luxury Cruise Company has been nominated for the 'Best Cruise Product', for its "innovative and unique" cruise insurance, which provides clients with cover against missed ports of call, itinerary changes, missed departure, missed shore excursions and more.
The Cruise International Awards are still the only consumer cruise travel awards voted for by cruise passengers themselves. Last year a total of 180,000 votes were cast.
Scott Anderson, General Manager of The Luxury Cruise Company, said: "This is the second year of the awards and last year we were runner-up in the 'Best Cruise Agent' category - so we would be thrilled to win this year.
"Our new cruise insurance product is ground-breaking as no other insurance will cover you for missed ports of call or even missed shore excursions that you have paid for. We are looking forward to the awards ceremony later this year and hopefully will be able to bring home a trophy or two."
A growing number of Brits are choosing to go on a cruise. This year the figure is predicted to top 1.7 million, rising to two million by 2014.
Cruise International is the independent guide to cruise travel - a cruise magazine dedicated to helping both the cruise holiday enthusiast and first-timers alike to enjoy the best that cruising has to offer.
