STX France delivers Europa 2
During a small ceremony at the STX Saint-Nazaire shipyard in France on Friday, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises officially took control of the Europa 2; the cruise operators newest and largest ship to date.
The handover marked the end of the 20-month construction period for the vessel and in recent weeks more than 1,000 shipyard employees worked round-the-clock in order to complete the ship.
Featuring 250 spacious cabins and suites, expansive wellness areas, multiple dining options and an array of enrichment activities, the 39,500 ton Europa 2 will prove passengers with a very high level of service with a passenger/crew ratio of just 1.4:1.
Europa 2 is scheduled to leave the shipyard this evening for Hamburg, where she is set to be officially christened during a lavish ceremony on May 10.
