Italy, Montenegro and Croatia Cruise
Transfer in Venice - at 80 years of age and a wife of 78 the walk to our hotel from where the water taxi dropped us was much to strenuous pulling our luggage. After registering a protest the transfer operators in Venice on our return transfer to the airport, collected us with our luggage from the hotel and took us to a much closer water taxi stop for the airport and at the airport provided a land taxi to drop us off at the departure check- in area. Full marks for that but we would have appreciated advice on the walking distance involved when confirming our booking.
Flights and transfers (3 out of 10)
Embarkation (5 out of 10)
No directions given from Rome airport to the embarkation lounge at the Hilton and no signage to help from the airport. Again had we not retained the airports luggage trolley to get to the hotel we would have been exhausted by the distance we had to walk. At the Hilton we stood in a queue at reception for 15 minutes to check-in to the hospitality room only to be told that we should have gone there directly. There was no sign directing passengers to the embarkation lounge. The room was sparten and the refreshments well below the standard we would have expected from a 4 star hotels such as the Hilton so we satct in the hotels public lounge/bar for most of the time.
Cabins/Suites (10 out of 10)
We booked the Owners Suite (cabin 001) and were delighted with every aspect of it. However from a personal point we feel that on a future trip we will book a De Luxe Cabin with windows and a balcony rather than just portholes.
Food and dining (10 out of 10)
Very satisfied and pleased with the service.
Public Rooms (8 out of 10)
Adequate in all aspects for the size of the vessel.
Itinerary and ports of call (9 out of 10)
With the exception of Corfu all other ports of call were excellent. Corfu we felt was a bit shabby and too touristy. Maybe had we had ventured outside of the town our impressions would have been different.
Shore Excursion (7 out of 10)
Because of our age, we thought many of the shore excursions would be too strenuous, so with the exception of the tour and show at the horses stud farm, we preferred to explore the towns visited on our own and at our own pace. With regard to the Stud Farm tour we thoroughly enjoyed it and found the tour guide pleasant and knowledgeable. The cost was reasonable.
