Seabourn Quest Mini Cruise Blog Day 1

This weeks cruise blog is by Tessa and Lisa, Cruise Consultants from our parent company Wexas. They enjoyed a short 3-day sampler trip on Seabourn Quest.

Seabourn Quest - Day 1

We arrived at Athens airport to be met by a taxi driver with our names on a Seabourn card. The transfer to Piraeus took about 45 minutes through the Athens traffic. At the Cruise Terminal we were greeted by a porter and a member of staff, who escorted us to the check in desk. The porter took our suitcases to our suite whilst we checked in. The check in process was very quick and easy and within less then 10 minutes we were onboard the ship. We were taken to the Seabourn Square, as our suite was not quite ready, so we sat on very comfy seats for only 10 minutes. We were directed to our V6 mid-ships balcony cabin on Deck 7, but was surprised not to be shown to our suite and shown around. However it was very close to the time of lifeboat drill and crew were busy with that.

Our balcony suite has a large bathroom (bigger then my bathroom at home) with two washbasins, a separate shower cubicle and bath with Molten Brown toiletries. Waiting for us in the suite were 2 glasses of champagne with a bottle on ice, which we quickly opened before life boat drill. The cabin also has a walk in wardrobe with more storage space than you can fill up. There was a really nice make-up mirror in the bathroom much to Tessa’s delight. We felt the suites were definitely designed by a woman. The minibar was set up with a bottle of scotch and vodka that they will change if you wanted. This was all complimentary.

We relaxed with some pre-dinner champagne cocktails, and dinner on our first night was in the Colonnade restaurant. It has a themed menu each night and tonight was Surf and Turf. My choice of starter was a shrimp and avocado cocktail. It was a small portion but the food was excellent. Main course was lobster tail and beef fillet cooked to order. Again the food was superb and we had a great selection of wines. We chose chocolate pot for desert that went down very well.

After a leisurely dinner we made our way to The Club where they had a Halloween party. This was members of the entertainment staff dressed up in costume and the guests looked to be enjoying it. We danced the night away and drank some more wine.

I should add at this point that the cruise is All Inclusive and the bar was well stocked with all manner of unusual and branded drinks. This made the cruise very relaxed and social, as no one had to worry about who was buying the next round! Also, as the cruise is all-inclusive, gratuities are neither expected nor encouraged.
