Regent Mariner to Greece July 13

  • Name: Mrs Ainsworth
  • Ship Name: Mariner
  • Area of the World: Greece
  • Cruise Line: Regent Seven Seas Cruises
  • Month: July

Flights and transfers: Everything worked really well. Turkish Air was really great! Easy Jet were Easy jet, I would recommend to have speedy boarding to avoid standing in line for at least an hour.

Pre Cruise Hotels: The Theoxenia is really Great Hotel. We went to the same bar as we did last time we were in Athens.  It was also nice to have breakfast included, last time we stayed at this hotel breakfast was nearly 30 euros so great to have it included this time around.

Embarkation: Very well organised, it went very smoothly.

Cabins/Suites: Best cabins ever! Nice toiletries (I didn't need to bring as many things with me)..Best cabin steward ever! Nothing was too much trouble.

Food and Dining: We really liked the main dining room, it felt like a really good restaurant. We visited the speciality restaurants, our favourite was Prime 7. The French restaurant was ok but not really that special.

Entertainment: The guest lecturers were really good, one was a retired American Ambassador. I really liked the complimentary needlepoint kit and classes. I also liked the scheduling - you went on the morning tour, came back for lunch, then at 3pm it was needle point, then the quiz, followed by lecture for 45 minutes, back to the cabin to get ready, pre dinner drinks, dinner followed by a show at 9. It all worked really well.

There were 6 dancers, 2 ball room dancers, 2 singers and a gymnastic couple. The singers were ordinary, all of the dancers and gymnasts were really top class, the best on any ship we've been on. I wish they would loose the old Broadway shows, they're very dated. The two others shows were great and got the whole ship rocking when they happened to play some Neil Diamond.

Public Rooms: All brilliant, they did tend to move you around the ship, for example, the bar outside the restaurant would open before dinner but close just after as another bar would open. For the first few days we couldn't find the peanuts, they're in the vases!!

On-board Service: ALL staff were very helpful, smiley and visible. The captain and officers were always around talking to people. First time I have seen this, it was really nice that we were treated like guests.

Itinerary and Ports of Call: We liked all of the ports but Lesbos as we chose the wrong tour, we would have enjoyed the boat and ancient site more.

Shore Excursions: The tours were really well organised, most guides were really good. The logistics of getting everyone on and off the ship worked well. The coaches were only ever half full and always had a loo stop.

My Service: Cathy Chesman you are brilliant!! You seem to have a good feel for what we like, that's why I always phone and book with you, I always recommend you to everyone I meet.
