Record cruise visitors for Vancouver

Vancouver completed a very successful Alaska cruise season this year, reporting a 15 per cent increase in cruise passengers versus 2010. From May to October 2011, the Port Metro Vancouver welcomed 663,425 passengers on 27 different cruise ships making over 199 cruise calls.

Making their inaugural Alaska cruises were Disney Wonder and Oceania Cruises' Regatta. Crystal Symphony, part of Crystal Cruises, returned to Alaska and Vancouver, making 10 port calls to the city

35 vessels connected to the Ports award-winning shore power installation, allowing cruise ships to plug in and close down their engines, thus reducing greenhouse gas emissions by over 1,300 tonnes

Four cruise lines have earned Port Metro Vancouver's "Blue Circle Award", whish is a recognition reserved for only the highest emissions-reduction achievements by cruise lines that call on the Port:-

In 2012, Vancouver expects to welcome about 670,000 cruise guests on 191 cruise calls.
