Qm2 New York Round Trip
We arrived at the Queen Elizabeth terminal in Southamton for check in - everybody was dressed to the nines and looked so elegant! We had cruised a few times with Cunard and wore our gold loyalty badges with pride.
It was a treat to board this magnificent ship for the first time and as we explored the luxurious surroundings did not dissapoint - the ship was everything that you would expect her to be and more! (It was a privaledge to be there and we counted ourselves as being lucky). Our cabin was most impressive and even had a balcony - we wasted no time in cracking open the complimentary Champagne to sip whist unpacking. Then after our lifeboat drill - the muster station of which was in the bar of the Queens Grill, we joined the sailaway party and waved goodbye - our next stop: New York! ...Six days at sea was smooth as a mill pond all the way and we ate and drank a lot more than we should - mind you it would have been rude not to! We were on deck for around 5am to see the Queen Mary 2 sail into New York and it was a magnificent sight. There was time to see a few of the sights and some retail therapy and then it was back to good old blightly! The return journey was a 23-hour day and each day passengers got up later and later... The food and entertainment were first class throughout and we met many interesting people from all walks of life along the way. If anybody has thought about doing this trip - you will not be dissapointed!
