Port of Seattle wins top award
Port of Seattle has won the prestigious Cruise Critic’s 2016 'Best North American Homeport’ award.
In 2016, superb facilities at Bell Street Cruise Terminal at Pier 66 and Smith Cove Cruise Terminal at Terminal 91 have served seven major cruise lines including Carnival, Celebrity Cruises, Holland America Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Oceania Cruises and Royal Caribbean. There have been a total of 203 vessels, and each ship call brings in $2.6 million to the local economy.
“It is an honour to be recognized by Cruise Critic for our cruise terminals,” said Commission President John Creighton. “We’ve made targeted investments over the years to ensure cruise passengers have a great experience while visiting Seattle.”
The Port of Seattle will have its biggest cruise year ever in 2017, expecting over one million passengers through its cruise terminals, reinforcing its position as the largest cruise port on North America’s Pacific coast. Seven major cruise lines have more than 200 dockings from eleven vessels each spring and summer.
From 2018 the brand new 4,000 passenger, Norwegian Bliss, will join the Seattle Alaska cruise schedule.
