Perfect Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico is a land like no other—a captivating paradise that combines laid-back Caribbean culture with Spanish heart and American style. An enticing blend of sun drenched beaches and picturesque cities steeped in history, Puerto Rico ’s culture, natural beauty and abundance of activities make it a winning Caribbean holiday destination every time. Puerto Rico has something for everyone; relax on some of the best beaches in the world, or indulge in the mouth-watering fusion creations, or if you are seeking adventure how about zip-lining over a high forest canopy or paddling through the famous glow-in-the-dark bioluminescent bay?

Home to over 300 flawless beaches, three of the world's seven bioluminescent bays, and some of the most welcoming locals you could ever hope to encounter, Puerto Rico is the place to see and be seen. Submerge yourself in the relaxed Caribbean vibe and explore Puerto Rico’s cosmopolitan nightlife, famous for its achingly cool salsa bars and clubs.

Puerto Rico is the ideal choice for town and country or fly and drive. Combine the traditional Spanish charm of Old San Juan with the laid back luxe of beautiful Vieques.  An enticing blend of sun drenched beaches and picturesque cities steeped in history, Puerto Rico ’s culture, natural beauty and abundance of activities make it a winning Caribbean holiday destination every time. As Puerto Rico is a small island (100 by 35 miles), visitors can hire a car and travel from one side of the island to the other in just 2-3 hours. Unlike other Caribbean islands, Puerto Rico’s infrastructure is extremely safe, due to the implementation of U.S. standards, making the island easily accessible.

Puerto Rico boasts fantastic shopping - no matter where you are on the Island, there is always a shopping mall within reach and the islands are home to the biggest one in the Caribbean, 'Plaza Las Americas'. Plus, Puerto Rico sells all top US brands but at a lower VAT rate; where better to bag yourself a stylish bargain in the sun!

Hiking, camping out in a cosy mountain-top lodge and gazing out onto majestic mountain ranges...Puerto Rico is not only a beach destination but also boasts the Cordillera Central Mountain Range. Ideal for a day trip to sample some alfresco dining among the treetops, this region’s temperatures are consistently cooler than the rest of the island and is the perfect location to glimpse some of the countries wildlife and experience one in a lifetime adventure activities.

Visit Vieques
Beautiful, untouched, tranquil... these are words to describe the island of Vieques. Just a short flight or ferry ride from mainland Puerto Rico, visitors can ride horses along the beach, take a bike ride around the island, kayak through the brightest bioluminescent bay in the world, or simply relax in the peace and tranquillity with a spot of sunrise yoga on the beach. Two-thirds of Vieques national forest is protected making it one of the most untouched islands in the Caribbean.

Old San Juan, Puerto Rico
Known as the culinary capital of the Caribbean and the place to Salsa, visitors will fall in love with Old San Juan. Its distinctive blue cobbled streets, Spanish influenced open plazas and small boutiques are easily accessed on foot, making it the perfect place for an afternoon stroll. Take a culinary tour of the city and learn about the local cuisine, including mofongo, a speciality of fried plantain (fruit plant). As day transforms into night, listen to the beat of salsa drums as the streets come alive. Learn to salsa and taste some of the city’s exquisite cocktails. What more could visitors ask for!

Endless Activities...
For adrenaline junkies, visit the Toro Verde Adventure Park and conquer “The Beast”, one of the longest and highest zip lines in the world. For fitness fanatics, the many hiking trails of El Yunque rain forest offer routes for all levels of fitness to explore lush flora, swim under breathtaking waterfalls and take in the picturesque views. For a more chilled out day, play Golf at a world-class PGA course, or head to the beach and take to the waves- the annual West Coast Surfing Rip Curl event is held on the island of Vieques- it’s a surfer’s paradise.

Recommended Hotels

We recommend the following three hotels in Puerto Rico - Hotel El Convento, Condado Vanderbilt Hotel, and the Ritz-Carlton.

In the heart of San Juan's old town, Hotel El Convento offers stylish and characterful accommodation on the beautiful Caribbean island of Puerto Rico. The building, originally a 17th century convent, was converted into a hotel in the late 1950's, finally opening as El Convento Hotel in January 1962. Over the course of the last few years the hotel has undergone a major renovation and is now a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the world as well as being the oldest member of Historic Hotels of America.

The Condado Vanderbilt Hotel is located in the exclusive Condado District of San Juan, Puerto Rico. The hotel was founded in 1919 by wealthy businessman Frederick William Vanderbilt, and has dramatic Atlantic Ocean views, a graceful Spanish revivalist style façade, and an opulent interior. After a recent renovation, the hotel has been restored to its former glory, with sweeping staircases and graceful archways still in tact.

The Ritz-Carlton is located in the city of San Juan on the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico, and is perched on a two-mile stretch of a golden sandy beach. The hotel is one of San Juan’s most luxurious resorts, yet maintains a relaxed, laid back atmosphere. The resort is also only 15 minutes drive from the airport, and is close by to the cosmopolitan nightlife of Old San Juan.
