Orion Expedition Cruises announce photography voyage

Award winning expedition cruise operator Orion Expedition Cruises have announced a unique "Forgotten Islands" photography voyage where guests will have the opportunity to enhance their skills in some of the worlds most photogenic locations.
Departing from Bali on the 28th November, guests will set sail on a ten-day voyage along the trade routes of yesteryear towards Cairns in Australia.

Hosted by renowned professional photographer Nick Rains and cinematographer and photographer Pieter de Vries, the voyage will be an exclusive floating master class. Every step of the way, guests can rely on the experience of the two professional photographers to assist you in creating that awe-inspiring photo from your expedition.

During the voyage, you'll visit Komodo, home of the famous dragons, the un-spoilt southwest corner of Maluku, the former Dutch trading colony on Yamdena Island and the small island of Kisar; with European heritage spanning well-over 400 years.

Throughout the voyage, both photographers will be running a series of open-workshops and tutorials, of which will include camera operation, travel photography tips, printing and processing methods. At the end of the ten-day discovery, you'll be able to return home your own personal collection of creative travel photography and will have the skills to capture spectacular images on your next adventure.

Ever since leaving the University of Wales in the UK with a degree in Zoology nearly three decades ago, Nick Rains has been a professional photographer who has photographed most subjects from travel to industry, rock stars, nature and cities around the world.

Pieter de Vries is one of Australia's most well known cinematographers. He has photographed many acclaimed television series in more than 75 countries. Highlights of Pieter's career includes filming sequences for David Attenborough's "Live on Earth" series and joining award-winning director James Cameron as a photographer on "Ghosts of the Abyss" - which included revisiting the wreck of the Titanic.

The "Spice & Forgotten Islands" voyage is set to be a unique voyage, visiting some of the world's most fascinating and unspoilt destinations, in addition to an award winning enrichment programme offered only with Orion Expedition Cruises.
