MS Europa - Best Ship in the World for the 10th year
Hapag-Lloyd Cruises - MS Europa is literally in a class of its own. So impeccable is the ship’s performance that Douglas Ward creates a dedicated class for it. For the tenth successive year, the MS Europa has achieved the status of topcruise ship in the world, according to the 2010 Berlitz Guide to Cruising and Cruise Ships, which is published this week.
Douglas Ward, the book’s editor and expert cruise writer, states the MS Europa is the only five-star-plus cruise ship in the world that scored 1,851 points out of a total 2,000 points. It is the only ship out of 270 ships in the book to be awarded this rating.
Douglas Ward and his team have been reviewing and inspecting cruise ships and luxury liners the world over for 25 years, and have given only one “five-star-plus” rating in this year’s 25th anniversary edition.
The British author Douglas Ward has over thousand cruises under his belt and is the world’s most highly regarded expert on cruising.
The annual independent cruise guide has become a source of star rankings for ocean-going cruise ships the worlds over. The fully revised and updated annual Berlitz Guide has excellent advice and honest reviews of 270 cruise ships and liners.
“It’s not just the Europa and her facilities that deserve the highest rating – but the myriad details, outstanding cuisine and above all the personal and discrete service offered by the excellent crew onboard. All of these elements make it the world’s best cruise experience,” said Douglas Ward.
Douglas Ward presented the plaque to Hapag-Lloyd Cruises' Managing Director Sebastian Ahrens during the EUROPA’S tenth birthday celebration onboard, on September 21st in Hamburg.
The MS Europa has just returned from a dry-dock, during which all of her 204 luxury suites received fresh new fabrics and colours. Additionally the Penthouses Deluxe Suites were fully renovated.
MS Europa is the first “all-suite” cruise ship, with staterooms that are never less than 290 square feet, 80% of them having their own
