MS Amalyra river cruise blog day 6
After another very comfortable night onboard in Linz, this was to be our final day. With much regret, we were getting off the ship in Passau so this prevented us taking any of the excursions provided that day, which included full day tours of Salzburg or Cesky Krumlov in the Czech Republic. Our day was spent enjoying a very relaxed cruising day past some beautiful and very tranquil scenery - sadly some what obscured by the fog!
For guests who stayed on board the ship, there were several things arranged such as visiting the wheel house and a demonstration of strudel making by our head chef.
All too soon, we arrived in Passau and whilst most guests were lucky enough to visit the town and enjoy the Christmas market, our group had to make a very quick exit and take the 2 hour drive to Munich to catch the flight home.......
MS Amalyra suite accommodation
In summary, there really are not enough superlatives to describe my first river cruise experience. From the moment you board the luxurious AMA Waterways ships, you are treated like royalty in a very relaxed and informal environment. Spacious and very comfortable cabin accommodation provides ’relief’ from the seemingly never ending supply of food - all excellent quality - and it takes a very disciplined person to say ’No’ to all the food offered. Wine and beer are included with dinner. Bar prices are about the same as in the UK so overall very good value.
There is absolutely no pressure to join in any of the activities - although you will probably want to. Movement when sailing is virtually non existent. The crew are all highly visible and friendly and cannot do enough to make sure everyone is happy. This particular cruise had a very mixed group - both in terms of age and nationality.
You could say I enjoyed it - not a little but a lot - and I very much look forward to my next river cruise experience with the Ama....zing AMA waterways.
