Dusseldorf expects rise in Rhine river cruise stops
The number of river cruises that will call at Düsseldorf, Germany, is expected to increase by 50% in 2011. Bookings of city tours by the popular river cruise lines such as APT River Cruises, Avalon Waterways and Viking River Cruises have been growing steadily annually by about 20% over the past years
The city is focussing on river cruises as part of its tourism marketing, with many younger people discovering the appeal of a river cruise on the Rhine.
