Cunard Cruises Queen Elizabeth Cruise Blog Day 11

A very Good Morning on a beautiful day here aboard Queen Elizabeth.

Well today is our final day at sea and it is also the Royal Wedding! Here on Queen Elizabeth, the only thing that is missing from the celebrations is the Bride and Groom themselves!
The event is being show in the Royal Court Theatre, Queens Room and the Golden Lion Pub all decorated with British Bunting and hats. There is also a special blend of Twinings Tea that is avaliable to purchase for $30, yes that much!

So I am sitting here in the Golden Lion Pub as everywhere else is packed! Tonight in the restaurants there is a special Royal Wedding souvenir four course menu that has been designed by Chef Zimmerman, who is VP of Culinary Operations across the fleet.

At 8pm this evening, Captain Chris Wells will be visiting my restaurant to propose a toast to the newly weds and also to say a personal farewell to everyone.

Well today I am leaving the packing to my parents, I have already visited the Royal Arcade and bought yet more goodies and will try to meet my friend Samantha briefly to give her a present. She has had no time off at all this cruise!

I will also be visiting The Zone to join in with a British Hunt around the ship and to say farewell and exchange Facebook’s and all that stuff.

We are schedules to arrive back in Southampton tomorrow at 0700 and will be ashore by 11am. Tomorrow QE sets sail on a 5 Night short getaway cruise to the Netherlands. I wish I could stay on and one of my good friends will be on board!

Well I suppose that is it from me!
Thank You for reading this blog, I do hope you enjoyed it. And a huge Thanks to Scott at The Luxury Cruise Company for letting me loose on his company’s website!

I will be posting a full review of my cruise sometime over the next few days.

So from me aboard the Queen Elizabeth,

Well to sum up my last evening aboard Queen Elizabeth, it has been eventful.

Dinner was very nice with a special celebratory menu created by Chef Zimmermann and a toast to the newly weds and to the 100th ship in the Carnival Fleet. Following dinner it was to say farewell to the Zone and what a way to finish off...

Walking outside in torrential rain admiring the thunder and lightning which look so effective whilst at sea. It is a true beauty from being viewed at sea with the entire ocean being lit up for a brief moment.

The Maitre’d in the Brittania club gave me a huge box of mint chocolates to take home as he knows that I can be a chocoholic at times.

Saying goodbye to the Captain who wished me luck in pursuing my career and hopes to see me aboard soon as one of the Carnival UK cadets.

So as I sit in the lido whilst typing this, I am reflecting on a splendid cruise and thankful that I have met some amazing people during the past eleven days aboard.

The Queen Elizabeth is certainly a beautiful ship inside and out. Cunard’s legacy will live on says the Captain since if it wasn’t for the Carnival Corporation, Cunard would probably not exist. So cheers to Carnival and the celebrations of their 100th Ship being delivered to the company in a space of less than 40 years. The Carnival Magic looks a real beauty and I hope to sail aboard her very soon indeed.

Thank you for reading this blog and keeping up with my daily observations whilst on board and ashore. I hope to be sailing somewhere around the world this Summer and who knows what will happen in the next few months. I could even be working aboard one of these magnificent ships in the coming months or be pursuing my career in the travel industry.

Go for your dreams you can do it, if you reach for the sky there is no limit. Remember that life is about celebrating the wonders that have been created, and one of those has to be cruising.

Farewell from me, Ben Montgomery.
