Crystal Symphony in Dry Dock

A number of Crystal Symphony's public spaces will be remodelled and refurbished during the ships current dry dock, taking place at Germany's Blohm + Voss shipyard. The refurbishment is costing a reported US$15m and will take just 15 days - that's a US$1m a day!

  • Fantasia and Waves - the junior cruisers areas

Crystal Cruises has lavished over $50 million on its two luxury cruise ships over the past 2 years, winning praise and industry awards.

Dry dock details

Avenue Saloon

The piano bar's makeover includes a room reconfiguration to add more seating, including antique-style couches and a large sofa. Wood flooring, new, edge-lit glass shelves and pop-up ceiling finalise the new touches.

Palm Court

Palm Court

The ship's panoramic lounge will undergo a sleek, contemporary transformation with a new entrance, expanded bar and dance areas with added seating and a larger, spiral-design dance floor with an overhead ceiling feature.

Galaxy Lounge

Galaxy Lounge

Crystal Cruises is planning a major redesign of its main show theatre for live performances, Broadway-style musical productions and lavish entertainment experiences. New lighting, carpets, wall panels, curtains, doors, seating, cocktail tables and marble flooring all complete the sophisticated look.

Hollywood Theatre

The ship's movie theatre will get plush leather armchairs with individual pull-out tables and an earth tone colour palette. Technical updates include new surround sound, audio processing and enhanced lecture facilities

Bridge Lounge

Crystal Symphony's space for cards, games and presentations receives a refined rejuvenation with all new furniture, including game tables and chairs, lighting, window treatments, wall coverings and presentation tools.

Fantasia and Waves

A new layout for both Fantasia kids play area and Waves teen video arcade creates separate areas for crafts, relaxation, screenings (two TVs), teens and computer usage (teens and kids separate).

Other ship enhancements include new electronic "do not disturb" doorbells in all staterooms (as installed on Crystal Serenity last May) and environmentally efficient lighting installations for all electric upgrades/changes.

New Electronic Doorbells

All remodelling, as well as bi-annual maintenance and cleaning, will take place while dry docked at Hamburg's Blohm + Voss shipyard from1st to 16th June 2012.
