Crystal Cruises goes all Game of Thrones
Crystal Cruises is unveiling a new Game of Thrones themed Crystal Adventure shore excursion in the show's key filming locations in Northern Ireland.
Crystal Cruises guests will have the chance to explore several iconic locations situated near Belfast, where they will step back in time to experience medieval life, shooting arrows, taking photographs with show costumes and learning how centuries-old castles and towers are transformed into sets for the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros.
The half-day excursion is offered on the 24th August seven-night luxury cruise through the British Isles onboard Crystal Symphony and the 5th September 14-night Ireland/Iceland & New England Transatlantic voyage onboard Crystal Serenity.
From Belfast, guests will travel to the shores of Strangford Lough, location of 18th century Castle Ward and estate, which includes Forest Park and Audley's Castle. The 820-acre landscape and medieval buildings have served as pivotal sites for the show's first and second seasons, such as Winterfell, the Lannister encampment, Robb Stark's campgrounds and where he first fell in love with Talisa. Participants will learn how special effects are used to transform the castles into those seen on screen, and play their own Game game, matching actual sites to show scenes.
Warrior-wannabes can also try their hand at archery, while a photo opportunity with series costumes will showcase the ingenuity that goes into creating characters' different looks.
The "Enter the Game of Thrones" Crystal Adventure is available for $289 per person.
The seven-night 24th August cruise sails from Dublin to Dover and visits Belfast, Londonderry, Galway, Cork, Portland and Saint-Helier. Until 30th April, all-inclusive fly/cruise "Book Now" fares start at £2,724 per person.
The 14th-night 5th September voyage sails from Southampton to Boston and Guernsey, Waterford, Dublin, Belfast, Reykjavíc (overnight), Halifax and Bar Harbor. Until 30th April, all-inclusive fly/cruise "Book Now" fares start at £3,839 per person.
