Cruising With Cunard

After a long year, my family was eager to go from New York to Germany on the QM2. When we arrived in Brooklyn, we got out of the car and unloaded our bags from the trunk. There was somebody there to take our bags from us. He was a very nice gentleman and was also very funny. He put a smile on our faces as we approached the terminal. Everybody inside was eager to help us as well. They made the process very easy and once we got to the front desk, the eagerness to get aboard was very high. My two children were very excited and the woman at the desk was very polite to them.

Once we boarded, we were greeted by many of the workers aboard the QM2. Everybody had a smile on their face and even one of the waiters remembered my daughter from a cruise 2 years ago. It set us up for the fantastic vacation we were going to have in the future. Then we went to our rooms, and our bags were already waiting for us. We unpacked everything and then the room steward introduced himself to me and my children. He took a keen liking to my kids and was very polite.

We left to go walk around the ship and when we came back, he had set up my daughters stuffed animal and some chocolates really cutely. He would continue to do this throughout the course of the cruise. The food was great, and the waiters were fantastic. The sommelier was very good and he always paired a great wine with the food. He treated the kids to non-alchoholic drinks nightly which also made the cruise wonderful.

The entertainment staff were great and were wonderful to my kids during Pub Team Trivia. The shows were wonderful and the staff was eager to help during the whole cruise even during disembarkation. Our kids really enjoyed performances from Jordan Bennet and a magician. My daughter also enjoyed the interviews with John Cleese and the captain. She met the captain, Captain Bates, and thought he was a very nice man. The kids were regular attendees of the nightly shows.

It was a Transatlantic cruise and its only stop was Southampton, where many passengers departed. The crew was very helpful in making sure our experience was good during the hectic process. We had a wonderful time in Southampton while we were there. The ship was gorgeous, it could use a refurbishment soon (which I understand is underway), but the public rooms and staterooms were still great. Our favorite room was the Commodore Club. Our family had a lot of fun looking out of the front of the ship while drinking and eating before and after dinner. The pianist played beautifully and taught a few things to my daughter. All in all, it was my best vacation with Cunard and certainly the best cruising experience I have had.
