Celebrity Solstice Cruise Blog Day 7

Today Celebrity Solstice was anchored in Kotor, Montenegro. Well, let me just tell you that this port of call was amazing. Picture endless rolling hills, lush greenery and blue skies = the perfect hideaway. Nestled along Europe’s southernmost fjord, the Boka Kotorska, Kotor in Montenegro is rich in history after being ruled by many different empires until declaring independence less than a decade ago. The old city is protected by giant stone walls built by the Italians and inside these vehicle free marvels lies narrow streets lined with shops, cafes and restaurants await with many churches located all over including one that is even older than Notre Dame and St Peters Basilica.

After tendering ashore, my parents and I set off to explore the old city of Kotor. It was already 10:00 and 31 degrees, so we immediately found a lively cafe bar located just inside the city walls where there are water misters and fans to help keep customers cool, it was also the cheapest place so far in all the ports we had visited to buy a drink, with a can of Pepsi at just €2.

Anyway after cooling off a bit, we walked around the narrow cobbled streets stopping in some shops as we went by. It was lovely walking around with no traffic, yet we ended up stopping a few times at cafes just to simply cool off as it reached a crazy 36 degrees!

Once back aboard, I headed to lunch where to my delight Fish and Chips was one of the options. Whilst I didn’t opt for the Fish, I had a delicious Roll accompanied with a portion of Chips, which were lovely!

At 4pm we hoisted the anchor and set sail for Venice where we arrive on Tuesday at 2pm. I will be one of the lucky few to be invited onto the Helipad as we sail into one of the most remarkable cities in the world.

See you soon!
