Celebrity Solstice Cruise Blog Day 3

This morning I awoke fairly early and once I was ready, went for a walk around the open decks as we awaited clearance from the authorities in Livorno. It was a warm, sunny morning with a light, and very much needed breeze. Also in port today were the Norwegian Epic and Pullmantur’s Soverign. After a delicious breakfast consisting of pancakes and fruit, my parents and I ventured out into the city of Livorno. We had previously visited Florence and Pisa, although they are lovely places, in this heat it would have been too much. The shuttle bus, which cost 5 Euros each for a round trip journey took us to the Grande Piazza, from where we walked around for half hour or so, stopped for an ice cold coca cola and then gave in to the heat once again and headed back to the Celebrity Solstice.

It was nice to be greeted back aboard with an ice cold towel and a refreshing juice. Once aboard the Solstice, it was deck fourteen for lunch where I ate a yummy ham roll with crisps, very adventurous I know.

After lunch, I got changed and found a nice spot in the shade by the outdoor pool, where I sat down on a comfy chair with my iPad, headphones in and... relaxed. After all, on a cruise you can do as little or as much as you wish.

As it neared the evening, I went back to the stateroom, recharged my Apple devices whilst getting ready and then headed to the Celebrity iLounge located on deck six. This is the on board Internet centre and also where you can attend Celebrity Life iLearn seminars and even purchase Apple products as Celebrity are an authorised Apple dealer.

I must admit, the packages are a little bit pricey, and the Internet signal isn’t great, as expected with being on a moving ship! But it does the job and I was able to check in with my social media accounts, delete unwanted emails and even look at future cruises.

After surfing the net, I headed up to the Solstice Deck (at the front) to watch us sail out of Livorno bound for Civitavecchia, where we arrive tomorrow.

Before dinner, I had a Zero Proof (non-alcoholic cocktail) in the Martini Bar which was delicious. I love the fact that you can write your name in ice at the bar.

Dinner was good, today I opted to explore the kids menu (purely for research purposes) and I can report back that it was very tasty, and I would certainly have it again.

Tomorrow we are in Civitavecchia, the port for Rome. Not quite sure whether I will venture in to the Eternal City since I have been there numerous times before and it is also supposed to be +90 F, which I am dreading!
