American Adventures Month

The Best North, Central and South USA Cruises

American Adventures Month

August marks American Adventures Month, a period dedicated to the promotion of holidaying in the USA. Travellers are encouraged to use the month to plan a trip to see all that South, Central and/or North America has to offer, by any possible means. This could involve booking an excursion through an agent, or organising a road trip with a few close friends.

Cruise liners are one of the most comfortable, relaxing and efficient travel methods for touring the States. Our fantastic American cruise itineraries allow passengers to explore many key locations and landmarks in one, stress-free trip.

Here’s a closer look at some examples of The Luxury Cruise Company’s very best United States cruises:

TOP NORTH USA CRUISE ROUTE

Statue of Liberty NYC

Fall Jubilee Cruise

A one day stop in the concrete jungle of NYC starts this exciting 12 day northern USA tour. There, passengers will sail past the iconic Statue of Liberty, witness Times Square and the Empire State Building, as well as explore Broadway. Guests will then visit significant landmarks in Rhode Island (the United States’ oldest synagogue - Touro - and Friends Meeting House, for example) before continuing deeper into Massachusetts for an overnight stay in Boston.

Soon after, the liner will enter the mountainous and beautiful Canada, following the peaceful course of the Saguenay River, which is surrounded with dramatic and lush scenery. The final leg of the trip (Quebec to Montreal) will provide opportunities to see the historically-rich Ramparts of Quebec, Citadel and Place d’Armes square in Old Montreal.

Other highlights of this cruise include a visit to the wooded Acadia National Park (Bar Harbour, Maine), and the barely populated, tranquil and naturally stunning community of Peggy’s Cove (Nova Scotia).

OUR BEST CENTRAL AMERICA CRUISE TOUR

Costa Rica Waterfall

Panama to Costa Rica Cruise

This cruise is ideal for those looking to discover central-western America and more specifically, the fifth biggest country in the world: Mexico. Embarking from Panama’s orchid-littered Balboa onto the astounding wildlife sanctuary that is Isla Iguana, passengers will have the chance to take a closer look at the area’s colossal coral reef with a spot of snorkelling. Next stop Coiba Island, part of the Coiba National Park, is also loved by underwater adventurers, and comprises irresistibly sublime, ecologically-vibrant and paradise-akin vistas.

Port calls at the other white sandy islands of Costa Rica will see passengers walk around an extensive biological reserve, ponder the ancient mystery behind the granite spheres of Cano Island, and trek through Quepos tropical jungle, among many other activities.

The packed - but well organised - itinerary also sees guests visit the National Parks of Golfito, San Josecitas, Quepos and Carara, meaning there is ample opportunity to see rare flora and fauna in their respective natural, unspoilt habitats.

TOP SOUTH AMERICA CRUISE

Cartagena Columbia

Circle South America Cruise

This cruise sees passengers visit an almost endless list of southern American destinations throughout its impressive 74 day duration. Starting in Miami, the ship will sail for two days before reaching the stunning Caribbean island and premier shopping destination Curacao. Here passengers can explore tropical coral reefs and the naturally-formed Hato Caves before continuing to Aruba and the popular resort city of Cartagena (Columbia). Those aboard will then travel onto Ecuador through the narrow Panama Canal.

The Peru leg of this journey will see guests visit the 233.5 foot high Pyramid of the Sun, and the infamous ancient Inca city of Machu Picchu. The Chile stint presents abundant wildlife (including penguin spotting), scenery of awe-inspiring Antarctic glaciers and a chance to ride the quaint wooden trams of Valparaiso. After further stops at destinations in Uruguay and Argentina, the ship continues to Brazil, arriving just in time for Parintins’ theatrical dance and music festival.

Other highlights of this trip include visits to a variety of ecological reserves, rainforests, National Parks, seaside resorts, surfing spots, museums, observatories and even more besides.

THE ULTIMATE ALL AMERICAS CRUISE

Whale Songs and Northern Lights Cruise

This is the definitive cruise for stars-and-stripes aficionados, for its schedule comprises much of what is offered by the other three cruises discussed in this blog post and more. The tour begins in Alaska, where passengers can enjoy the majestic sight of glaciers (including the 76 mile long Hubbard Glacier) as the liner sails through prime sites of the state, including Inside Passage and Icy Strait Point.

Stops in Canada, Oregon and the ’Golden State’ of California follow before the Mexican leg of the journey commences. Highlights in Mexico include cliff diving in Acapulco, snorkelling in Huatulco and a trip to the remarkable Izapa archaeological site in Puerto Chiapas. The ship will then sail onto ’Sunshine State’ Florida, South Carolina, and The Big Apple (NYC) before widely touring Canada on its way back to the cruise’s start point.
