I was greeted by White gloved concierge staff only too happy to relieve me of my hand baggage and escort me on board the Seabourn Legend

The check in procedures were conducted very efficiently and speedily and I was then escorted to my suite.

I had a Balcony Suite which on the three sister Seabourn ships, Pride, Legend and Spirit provide you with a French Balcony – large sliding doors which allow you to stand and look out over the view.  Well worth paying a little extra for as they also provide you with fresh air that is not available in a suite with just a window that you cannot open.

I was very impressed with the spaciousness of the suite and comfort of all the furnishings; the bathroom was a good size and contained a full size bathtub with the shower over.

The cabin steward came to welcome me and had with her a basket of luxury soaps so that I could choose – it was a lovely touch.

She also came with a glass of champagne to enjoy alongside the bottle waiting in the ice bucket.  All very nice!

Seabourn Legend is not a large ship in comparison to some, but there was an excellent choice of bars and lounges in which to meet fellow guests and relax in comfort.

The deck area was expansive with plenty of sun loungers and the space to enjoy without being hemmed in by other guests.  The waiting staff provided very attentive service, and on one afternoon I enjoyed a relaxing shoulder massage provided by one of the spa staff to anyone one that wanted.

In the evening there is one main dining room, which can accommodate all guests at the same time if necessary, but course-by-course service in your suite is also available to order from the restaurant menu.  They also have their tasting menu available at Restaurant 2, which is combined with suitable wine pairings.

The quality of food served wherever we ate was superb.  All dishes are cooked to order with the freshest of ingredients, as explained to me when I went shopping with the Chef in Marseille.  A very interesting experience and one that everyone should try if the opportunity arises.   The six of us that accompanied him were treated to dinner that evening of Bouillabaisse made from the ingredients he had purchased. Amazing!  Again this would not be possible on a larger cruise ship.

The evening entertainment consisted of high calibre singers and musicians who were expert in providing the right kind of atmosphere for guests on board.

Overall the Seabourn cruise experience is of a high standard and quality throughout.  All staff that I encountered were very friendly and after the first night greeted everyone by their name.  Very impressive.
