This weeks cruise blog is by Tessa and Lisa, Cruise Consultants from our parent company WEXAS. They enjoyed a short 3-day sampler trip on Seabourn Quest.
Seabourn Quest Day 3 - Sea Day
Shame about the weather. We awoke to cloudy skies and choppy seas, but it was still quite warm, and many people were relaxing on deck, with extra blankets for cover.
We decided to take breakfast in our suite, and two waiters set up the table and brought in copious amounts of food - think we over-ordered there.
We had the whole day to ourselves, and as the weather wasn't too pleasant, we browsed the shops - with their top of the range goods; had coffee and cakes in Seabourn Square, and then surfed the internet for a while. We even managed a small amount of lunch in the Colonnade - don't mention the word 'food' this week please!! Then back to our suite to watch a couple of the latest release films, read books, and prepare for - you guessed it - dinner.
We had pre-booked this at Restaurant 2, the alternative dining venue onboard. Make sure you make an early reservation here, as the meal takes about two hours, and really shouldn't be missed. Again, no supplement for this speciality restaurant. It's very hard to describe this meal, comprising of several tasting courses. This was our menu on the night but it changes frequently throughout the cruise:
Course 1
Course 2
Course 3
Course 4
Overall the meal was excellent. It is best eaten with an open mind. The waiter explained each course and what order to eat the food in. I wanted to be rebellious and eat it in the wrong order but I did as I was told! The meal does mess with your head a bit but is an amazing experience, with an unusual and exciting menu.
Finished off the evening in the Club, for more post-dinner cocktails and champagne, where many couples were dancing the night away to the accompaniment of the ships 5-piece band.
Day 4 - Disembarkation
Last day, and we left our cases in reception before leaving our suite at 8am. We had a leisurely breakfast in the Colonnade before disembarking in Valetta - in the pouring rain! What a terrific ship the Seabourn Quest is, we were very sorry to leave her.
Overall the cruise was excellent. As the ship is new some of the service could have been better but i am sure in a couple of months it will be excellent. We did not want to leave after 3 very short nights on board and are looking forward to our next trip onboard.
