Seabourn Quest Day 2 - Gythion, Greece
We docked in Gythion today so had a nice relaxing breakfast in the Colonnade restaurant. Breakfast was a huge buffet with an option for a cooked breakfast that was brought to us by a waiter. I just had cereal and pastries, which filled me up until lunch, and Tessa had the cooked breakfast. We had to tender in Gythion but there were no long queues and we certainly didn't have to get a ticket or wait our turn to get off as you would with one of the large cruise ships.
Gythion is a seaside town and fishing village on the Mani Peninsula and serves as a base for excursions to the famous classical site of Sparta and the Diros caves. We just spent a couple of hours looking around the town before we took the tender back to the ship. We still weren't hungry so we had coffee and club sandwiches in the Seabourn Square, whilst relaxing in the luxurious reclining seats. This is a really great place to chat to new friends or surf the Internet.
After lunch the weather brightened up so we went up on deck to sunbathe. Waiters brought round glasses of wine and champagne cocktails. I thought this was a really nice touch and could get used to being looked after like that. Once the sun went in we retired to our suite to watch a film. The TV has about 300 movies on demand including the latest cinema releases so is a great way to relax when the weather isn't so good.
Tonight was formal night so after taking a couple of hours to get ready we had dinner in The Restaurant. This is the main dining room and is very elegant. Lots of white curtains draped from the ceiling and very bling chandeliers. Lobster tail or Chateaubriand was on the menu and as we couldn't decide the waiter let us have both. The food was excellent and could not be faulted. A waiter escorted me out of the restaurant, which was good as I could not walk in my high heels. Tessa was most put out, as she had to manage by herself!
After dinner we made our way to The Club for some post dinner wine and champagne and to attempt to dance the night away.
