DAY 5 CUNARD QUEEN MARY 2 BLOG

Day 5 Cunard Queen Mary 2 Blog

A light breakfast of fruit and muesli was enjoyed in our room and as it was so lovely and sunny we then went up to the outdoor pool and actually swam and enjoyed the very warm jacuzzi. Had to quickly wrap up once we were out of the water but it seemed really incredible to be mid atlantic, middle of November and enjoying such warm sunny weather at the back of Queen Mary 2.

Reclining on a sun bed enjoying a hot chocolate, I was very surprised when I looked around and realised that the highest grade of Queens Grill suites were overlooking this pool and also there was a smoking area just underneath their private terrace and jacuzzi!

At midday the Caribbean band came out and entertained the by now large group of guests enjoying this rare opportunity to be outside. We were helped by the lack of a breeze and enjoyed the music before moving to the Britannia Restaurant for lunch.

We asked to be seated at a large table by the window with other guests. We were taken to a lovely table to find that our evening dining companions were already sitting there! We were joined by two other couples and had a very enjoyable meal exchanging 'cruising stories'.

I do enjoy having the opportunity at lunch to either sit at a table for two or share with others, this flexible arrangement is handled very well by the Maitr d.

After lunch we went up to the top deck to look at the Kennels. There were six or seven dogs each costing their owner over $1000 to be transported and four times a day they are let out into their own run for excercise, although at the time we were there they were also relaxing in the sun

Four of us then decided to play shuffle board. We quickly became very competitive and had great fun. We then moved into the netted area for a game of paddle tennis. While up on the top deck we were able to take photo's of the beautiful sunset, but as soon as the sun went down the air became very chilly.

Another formal night and we started the evening with cocktails and canapes in the Chart Room before moving onto dinner which tonight was rather disappointing. My main course of chicken was very dry. It is a shame that there is some inconsistency with the quality of food served.

After dinner we moved onto the Royal Court Theatre where we were entertained this evening by an excellent comedian who had the whole audience laughing at his opinion of 'Cruising with Cunard'.

We followed this with a short visit to the Casino and then to bed.
