SEADREAM YACHT CLUB BACKGROUND

Since their launch, SeaDream set a new standard for luxury holidays at sea. A holiday aboard SeaDream I or SeaDream II is not just a cruise; it is an entire experience in itself. From the moment that you step aboard, you will enjoy a level of service and attention to detail unlike no other. With a maximum of 112 guests and 95 staff members, both Seadream I and SeaDream II offer an enviable 1:1 staff to guest ratio.

SeaDream Yacht Club spend the colder months between November and April sailing in and around the intimate harbours and chic destinations of the Caribbean before sailing across the Atlantic and spending the summer across the wider Mediterranean. The itineraries are a mix of must-visit resorts, trendy coastal villages and unspoiled coastlines and are designed to enrich the guests overall experience.

Dining aboard is a culinary adventure or the senses. Whether guests choose to eat alfresco or in the elegant Dining Salon, they can enjoy open-seating dining, award-winning service and world-class cuisine, served with complimentary wines. Each and every dish is prepared fresh to order and menus typically feature regional specialities based on the ships itinerary. On a SeaDream Yacht, guests can enjoy an open bar throughout the voyage, inclusive of select premium brands and have access to a variety of water activities from the ships marina.

In the Caribbean, guests can enjoy SeaDream’s Champagne and Caviar Splash™. This is a unique event enjoyed on a white sandy beach and accompanied by a barbeque served on china. It is a chance to celebrate the yachting lifestyle and includes a toast to the crew, and guests alike for a memorable voyage.

OUR TIPS

The basics

SeaDream Yacht Club is the brainchild of Atle Brynestad, the founder of Seabourn Cruise Line, and Larry Pimentel, the former CEO of Cunard, and was founded just days before the World Trade Centre tragedy of 2001. From inception, it was always their wish to create a totally different type of holiday at sea.

They saw the need for something yacht like and delivered the mega-yachts SeaDream I & SeaDream II for those who like to holiday at sea but prefer not to cruise. For the sixth successive year, SeaDream I & II have been deemed the ‘World’s Best’ passenger fleet by the authoritative Berlitz Guide to Cruising.

We like

We love the Top of the Yacht Bar, very much a central point before and after dinner. On the same top deck you will also find SeaDream’s Balinese Dream Beds – huge comfy sun beds that are out of this world. You can even sleep out on them under the stars – just ask the crew and they will make a fresh bed for you, duvet, sheets, pillows and all.

Climbing the gangway alongside the SeaDream II, the Captain was waiting to greet us and welcome us on board.  Next to him, a waiter with glasses of Champagne.  I could tell straight away that this was going to be a very different cruise experience.
