Oceania cruises was formed in 2002 with three ships - Regatta, Insignia and Nautica as the world’s largest upper premium cruise line. In 2011 Oceania Cruises launched their first newly built luxury cruise ship - Marina, and in 2012 Riviera joined the fleet.
Oceania Cruises combines worldwide itineraries with a casually elegant onboard lifestyle similar to that found at an English country hotel. Oceania cruises have some of the finest gourmet cuisine at sea, served in a wide choice of open dining restaurants (all at no extra charge), exceptional personalised service, luxurious surroundings and extraordinary value. Oceania Cruises provides a home from home from which to explore many of the world’s most exotic destinations.
With 684 guests onboard Regatta, Insignia and Nautica, and 1,250 onboard Marina and Riviera, you’ll find a convivial atmosphere and high level of personal service on these stylish ships. Oceania Cruises award-winning itineraries visit more than 330 ports in Europe, including the Mediterranean & Scandinavia, Australia, New Zealand, Asia, South Pacific, and the Americas, including Caribbean, Alaska, Canada and New England, as well as the Amazon and South America. They also offer longer luxury cruises up to 30 nights.
The onboard style of Oceania Cruises is like that of a floating country club, and it prides itself on several points of distinction:
Regatta originally entered service in 1998 as the R Two for Renaissance Cruises, and re-entered the market in 2003 for Oceania Cruises. Insignia entered service in 1998 as the R One, and joined Oceania Cruises in 2004, and Nautica entered service in 1998 as the R Five, and started sailing in 2005 for Oceania Cruises. The Marina entered service in January 2011, and has now been well coveted as one of the best ships in its class.
The sister-ships in the Oceania fleet can carry 684 guests with 400 crew members. Oceania Cruises has considerably improved the vessels, by adding teak decking and teak deck-chairs, and enhanced the staterooms and suites, by introducing Tranquillity Beds and butler service to the top three suite grades.
We love the décor that heralds back to 1920s and 1930s grand ocean liners, with wrought iron staircase railings, rich carpets and trompe l’oeil ceilings.
While the surroundings are formal, the style of dress is not – no tuxedos or ball gowns. Country club casual is the dress code on board.
We recommend you visit the two smaller restaurants, the Polo Grill and Toscana – high up on deck ten – as an alternative to the excellent Grand Dining Room. Please also note that Oceania Cruises’ itineraries are varied and visit ports of call that the larger ships cannot access, and that it has introduced a series of pre-bookable shore excursions that are exceptional value for money – we would recommend you book these before you travel, as they are not available on board.
Oceania Cruises is for couples that enjoy good food and style, with excellent service, set in an informal atmosphere.
