Day 1. Fly UK to Saigon
Board your plane at your selected UK airport and fly to Vietnam.
Day 2. Arrive Saigon
On arrival in Saigon, be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. The rest of today is then at your leisure to relax or explore before dinner at your hotel tonight. Stay: Two Nights: Saigon, Sheraton Saigon Hotel and Towers
Day 3. Cu Chi Tunnels, Saigon
This morning visit the Cu Chi Tunnels, an incredible tunnel network constructed by Vietnamese fighters during the war. Learn how the tunnels played a crucial role in bringing about the American withdrawal. Then, following an afternoon at leisure, enjoy a special degustation menu this evening, designed by APT Ambassador Luke Nguyen, accompanied by matching wines.
Day 4. Saigon, Freedom of Choice. Embark Cruise
This morning, select from three touring activities. Perhaps enjoy a walking tour of the city then embark on a cyclo ride. Alternatively, visit an artist's home and learn about traditional lacquer art. Or take a motorbike tour and be driven safely through the bustling streets. Afterwards, transfer to My Tho Port to embark your river ship for your eight-day Mekong River cruise. This evening, enjoy a Welcome Dinner on board. Stay: Seven Nights: the RV AmaLotus
Day 5. Cai Be
A local boat will take you to Cai Be today, an intriguing river-land town. Visit the floating markets then go ashore to visit the French Gothic Cathedral as well as the colourful port area, which is filled with colonial buildings and delightful flower gardens. Afterwards, enjoy lunch back on board as you continue your cruise.
Day 6. Sa Dec, Tan Chau
Enjoy a boat ride past floating markets to Sa Dec. Here, tour Huynh Thuy Le's old house and learn the story behind Marguerite Duras' award-winning novel, The Lover. Later, visit Thien Hau Pagoda and the beautiful Fujian Temple. Following lunch, cruise to the peaceful town of Tan Chau.
Day 7. Tan Chau, Border Crossing
Today transfer to a small boat and travel along the tributaries. Visit a remote evergreen island, see a floating fish farm, then step ashore for a tour of Tan Chau by rickshaw. The rest of today is then spent on board. This afternoon, perhaps attend a fruit-carving demonstration while the border formalities are carried out and you cross into Cambodia.
Day 8. Phnom Penh
A guided sightseeing tour of Phnom Penh today includes a visit to the city's beautiful Royal Palace. During a tour here, you'll also visit the Silver Pagoda. After lunch back on board, take a trip to the Killing Fields, before visiting the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, on the site of the Khmer Rouge's notorious Security Prison 21 (S-21).
Day 9. Chong Koh, Oudong, Kampong Tralach
Enjoy a walk around Chong Koh before continuing to Prek K'dam, where you'll tour Oudong. Here, you'll experience a Buddha blessing at the Oudong Monastery. Afterwards, in Kampong Tralach visit Wat Kampong Tralach Pleu before an ox-cart ride takes you through rice fields and a small village.
Day 10. Kampong Chhnang, Tonle Sap
Enjoy a boat excursion into the wetlands near Kampong Chhnang this morning. Then return to your ship and cast off towards the lake of Tonle Sap. Absorb the tranquillity of the lake as you cruise past floating fishing villages. This evening, enjoy a Farewell Dinner on board.
Day 11. Disembark Cruise, Siem Reap, Freedom of Choice
Disembark and transfer to your hotel. Later, visit Angkor Thom, where you'll see the temple of Bayon and the Terrace of the Elephants. This evening, choose where you'd like to dine from our wonderful range of local restaurants. Stay: Two Nights: Siem Reap, Le Méridien Angkor
Day 12. Siem Reap, Angkor
Travel to Angkor Archaeological Park this morning to see the sunrise over Angkor Wat and discover this iconic temple on a guided tour. Then return to your hotel for breakfast. Later, explore the temple of Ta Phrom and visit a 'grass-roots' orphanage. Tonight, enjoy a Farewell Dinner and Apsara dance performance.
Day 13. Siem Reap, Freedom of Choice Touring
Perhaps visit the Wat Preah Phrom Rath Temple and take part in a Buddhist blessing; take a tuk-tuk ride to the Artisans d'Angkor workshops; enjoy a tethered balloon ride; enjoy an elephant ride to Bayon; embark on a quad bike adventure; or indulge in a relaxing spa. After your selected activity, you'll be transferred to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
Day 14. Arrive UK
Your plane lands back in the UK early this morning.
